CCHL Recap | Bears and Lumber Kings Win Wednesday Evening Games

Ottawa, ON – To start the two game Wednesday evening, the Smiths Falls Bears traveled to visit the Kemptville 73’s where the Bears took the game 6-1. The Pembroke Lumber Kings traveled to the Nepean Raiders, the game went all the way to a shootout where the Lumber Kings secured the win 3-2.

he first period saw Trevor Faucher netting two goals alongside Lucas Culhane’s contribution, while Tyler Melvin responded for Kemptville. Continuing their onslaught, Smiths Falls added two more goals in the second period courtesy of Julien Wasmer and Owen Watson. Travis Ouellette extended Smiths Falls’ lead in the final period. The goaltending duel saw Smiths Falls’ Dawson Labre making 28 saves, while Kemptville’s Jacob Biron, made 1 save before being replaced by Dax Easter, who made 16 saves.

The first period remained scoreless. Pembroke broke the deadlock in the second period with a goal from Liam Cardiff, but Nepean swiftly responded with goals from Kyler Slingerland and Joshua Reid in the third period. Pembroke scored another, as Ryan Parent leveled the score. Despite a scoreless overtime, Pembroke prevailed in the shootout, with Jayson Alegria, Cam Hicklin and Sutton Murray finding the net. Pembroke goaltender Kevin Jones made 37 saves, while Nepean’s Brady McEwan made 27 saves.
