CCHL Recap | 73’s and Nationals Win Wednesday Evening

Ottawa, ON – This Wednesday evening, the Kemptville 73’s hosted the Carleton Place Canadians, after 60-minutes the 73’s won 2-0. The Rockland Nationals travelled to visit the Nepean Raiders, and took home a 4-2 win after 60-minutes.

The first period saw no scoring from either side, as goaltenders Ian Vandenberg of Carleton Place and Jacob Biron of Kemptville stood tall, turning away all shots. The game’s momentum shifted in the second period when Owen Redmond of Kemptville found the back of the net, breaking the scoreless deadlock. The third period saw Tyler Melvin extending Kemptville’s lead, securing the win. Carleton Place’s Ian Vandenberg showcased his skills, making 26 crucial saves, but Kemptville’s Jacob Biron was equally impressive with 29 saves, earning the shutout.

In the first period, Jacob Charron of Kemptville opened the scoring. The second period saw Peter Freel leveling the score for Nepean, setting the stage for an intense third period. Rockland took control in the final frame, with goals from Matthew Verspeeten and a pair from Kyle Leonard. Nepean’s Thomas Dickey managed to find the back of the net, but it wasn’t enough to stage a comeback. Goaltender Benoit Forget of Rockland made 30 saves to secure the win, while Brady McEwan of Nepean turned away 34 shots in a hard-fought effort.
