CANADIANS DEFEAT LONGUEUIL, CLINCH BIRTH IN FRED PAGE CUP FINAL

 

Nicolas Carrier & Connor Merkley had 2 goals each, while Jacob Moreau & Bryce Van Horn had singles as the Carleton Place Canadians defeated College Francais de Longueuil 6-3 Friday afternoon to improve to 3-0 at the Fred Page Cup. 

 

Overall, it was another dominant effort by the Canadians even with an early second period scare which saw Longueuil score three goals in a five-minute span.  Carleton Place would hold the top Quebec ranked squad to just 16 shots in the game while throwing 30 of their own at their opponents.

 

Tied 3-3 at the second intermission, the Canadians would pick up 3 goals in the final period to pull away and continue their perfect start.  Colton Point made 13 saves for his third victory in three days.

 

The victory gives the Canadians 9 points in 3 games, clinching their birth in Sunday's Fred Page Cup final, their opponent is yet to be determined.
