Brockville uses shootout to best Kemptville, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

 

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Brockville Braves defeated the Kemptville 73s in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams.

 

Brockville came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Braves was down 2-1 after a goal by Kemptville's Tyson Kirkby at 16:05 in the second period. Brockville knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Sean King at 15:00 in the third period.

King was all over the ice for the Braves, as he had two goals in the win.

Brockville forced the 73s goalie Jacob Tugnutt to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

In addition, Brockville received assists from Jack Billings and Liam Folkes, who each chipped in one.

Kemptville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Brockville power plays. The 73s' offense rang up 54 shots on the Braves' net.

Kemptville was helped by Cameron Russell, who registered one goal. Russell scored on the power play 5:32 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The 73s had gotten the advantage when Brockville's Brett Van Stralen was sent off for slashing. Kaelan OFlynn picked up the assist. More assists for Kemptville came via Olivier Chabot and Matt Tugnutt, who contributed one each.

Mitchell Datz recorded 52 saves for the Braves. Brockville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jacob Tugnutt made 35 saves for Kemptville on 37 shots. The 73s incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
