Belec Named CCM Player of the Week

Ottawa, Ont. — The Central Canada Hockey League announced Tuesday that Nepean Raiders forward Kari Belec has been named CCM Player of the Week for Week 10 (Oct. 31-Nov. 6).

Belec, 20, tallied eight points (4G, 4A) over three Week-10 games for the Raiders, including a five-point day at Navan (11/03) and a two-goal game versus Hawkesbury (11/05).

After getting off to a slow start, with just four points (1G, 3A) in his first 13 games, the uncommitted Sudbury, Ont. native has been on fire with 15 points (8G, 7A) in his last 10 games.

Belec is now leads Nepean in goals (9) and game-winning goals (2).

Familiar faces were amongst the honourable mentions, as Hawkesbury Hawks forward David Jankowski and Brockville Braves goaltender Justin Evenson earned honours.

Jankowski, 20, had six points (1G, 5A) in two Week-10 games — both Hawks victories — and now sits third in the CCHL in points (33). Wild stat: The uncommitted Hawkesbury captain has had three or more points in five of his last 11 games.

Evenson, 19, stopped 60 of 65 shots en route to a pair of Brockville wins. The uncommitted, Minnesota-born netminder now ranks second in the CCHL in sv-% (.933) and third in GAA (2.09).
