The Central Canada Hockey League and Cumberland Grads are pleased to announce that ’96 born F Xavier Couture will join CIS Laurentian University in the fall and suit up for the Voyageurs Hockey Program.

The 6-0, 210 lb Rouyn-Noranda, QC native spent one season in the CCHL where he led the league with 36 goals and finished third overall with 73 points in 60 games of action.  He was named to the CCHL Third All-Star Team.

Before he played junior hockey, Couture suited up for three seasons in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association for the Saint-Laurent Patriotes.  In 119 combined regular season and playoff games he would score 70 goals and total 158 points.

“We are proud of Xavier and his commitment to play CIS Hockey at Laurentian,” said Grads Head Coach Sylvain Favreau.  “Xavier has proven to be one of the best natural goal scorers in our league and will most certainly have the same success at the next level.  Always committed to the team, Xavier is also one of the hardest working players I have ever coached.”

Couture is the second CCHL player to join Laurentian University in as many days as Hawkesbury Hawks Tyler Cooper committed their yesterday.
