Thursday Recap: Jr. Sens pound Lasers, Colts pick up win

Oct. 19, 2017

Ottawa 7, Kanata 1

Conor Smart’s hat-trick led the way as the Ottawa Jr. Senators pounded the Kanata Lasers 7-1.

Owen Guy also had three points (2G, 1A) in the dominant road win for the Jr. Senators (14-3-2), who led the Lasers (7-9-3) 4-1 at the midway point and never looked back.

For the second-straight night, Isaac Anderson and Chiwetin Blacksmith each tallied a pair of assists — showcasing what the full-strength Ottawa offence can look like.

Ryan Bunka had the lone goal in the forgettable defeat for the Lasers.

Cornwall 3, Smiths Falls 2 (OT)

It took overtime, but the Cornwall Colts edged the visiting Smiths Falls Bears 3-2 at the Ed Lumley Arena on Thursday night.

Chris Theodore’s league-leading 15th goal of the season at 4:49 of overtime lifted the Colts (9-8-2) past the feisty Bears (6-11-1).

Christophe Bohemier and Marc Shannon had the goals for Smiths Falls, while Joseph Samson and Tommy Tanner also netted for the Colts.

With the win, Cornwall vaulted over inactive Hawkesbury and Pembroke into fifth place.
