Bogart Cup Recap | A 2nd straight OT victory gives the Ottawa Junior Sens a 3-0 series lead

Carleton Place, Ontario – The Ottawa Junior Senators needed to go to Overtime once again to beat the Carleton Place Canadians 2-1 and to put themselves in position to sweep the Canadians this Wednesday at the Jim Durrell Sports Complex.

Much like how the series has gone so far, there was no scoring in the 1st period and the majority of the goals scored were in the 2nd period. The 1st goal was scored by Darcy Walsh 3:00 into the 2nd period off of the assists from Zachary Salloum and from Elie Boulerice. Quickly though, the Carleton Place Canadians were able to strike right back with a powerplay goal coming from Tim Theocharidis less than 2 minutes after the goal from Walsh. The assists came from Haydn Hopkins and Aidan Giriduckis.

While a strong back and forth by both teams to try and get the decisive game winning goal, once again, the game was sent to overtime. After some more high pressure hockey from both squads, Owen Guy was able to find the loose puck in front of the net and bury it in to give the Junior Sens the Game 3 victory and puts the Junior Sens into position to win the Bogart Cup.

This was very much a goaltenders matchup as both Junior Sens goaltender, Connor Hicks, and Carleton Place Canadians goaltender, Michael Leach, had fantastic performances between the pipes earning them the 1st and 2nd star of the games respectively. Connor Hicks finished the game with 35 saves while Leach finished the game with 29 saves.

Both teams had plenty of opportunities on the powerplay with both getting on the powerplay 9 times during the course of the game. The Canadians were able to capitalize on one of them to get the game tying goal in the 2nd.

The next game takes place this Wednesday at the Jim Durrell Sports Complex where the Junior Sens will have the chance to not only win the Bogart Cup but to sweep the Canadians in order to do so. Puck drop will be at 7:30pm.
