CCHL Recap | Wolves, Grads and Lumber Kings Win Sunday Games

Ottawa, ON – Two afternoon games and one evening games took place this Sunday in the Central Canada Hockey League. To start off on Sunday, the Renfrew Wolves visited the Nepean Raiders, where after 60-minutes the Wolves won 3-2. The Navan Grads hosted the Ottawa Junior Senators, the Grads won 6-1. Sunday evening the Pembroke Lumber Kings hosted the Carleton Place Canadians, after 60-minutes the the Lumber Kings won 1-0.

F | Renfrew 3 Nepean 2

Andrew Morton opened the scoring for Renfrew in the 1st period, but Nicolas Papineau equalized for Nepean in the 2nd. The seesaw battle continued in the 2nd with Morton netting another for Renfrew. In the 3rd, Brandon Reinisch leveled the score for Nepean, but Noah VomScheidt sealed the win for Renfrew. Goaltender Nolan Lane made 32 saves for Renfrew, while Brady McEwan made 40 saves for Nepean.

F | Ottawa 1 Navan 6

Gabriel Crete opened the scoring for Navan in the 1st period, countered by Xavier Guillemette’s goal for Ottawa. Navan surged ahead in the 2nd period with goals from Devon Savignac and Colin MacDougall. The 3rd period continued Navan’s dominance, with Damien Poulin, Devon Savignac, and Sebbie Johnson adding to the score. Ottawa’s Will Mizenko made 38 saves, Navan’s Braxton Castagno made 25 saves.

F | Carleton Place 0 Pembroke 1

The 1st period saw no scoring from either team. Pembroke broke the deadlock in the 2nd period when Kyle Cameron netted the lone goal of the game. The 3rd period resulted in no additional scoring. Carleton Place goaltender Ian Vandenberg made 27 saves. Pembroke goaltender Kevin Jones made 31 saves to secure the shutout victory.
