OTTAWA, ON – The CCHL has announced they are building a new league wide, online radio broadcast network that is set to begin operations this upcoming 2023/24 season. Tyler Cyr, the new Broadcast Manager for the league, has been working hard to set up the logistics of the CCHL’s new radio network, and will be at the helm to direct this new project.
CCHL Radio will be a new online broadcast network stream dedicated to broadcasting some of the league’s premier matchups. This gives the league and its fans a new online platform dedicated to live coverage of the CCHL and provides the many young broadcasters in the league a new platform to broadcast games.
Tyler believes this will be a good avenue for the league to take, to provide further coverage for its fans. “We at the CCHL had seen a handful of teams broadcast away games via online radio and we thought it would be a great thing to implement league wide,” says Cyr. “Radio certainly is a different medium when it comes to entertainment, however there is just something special about radio and therefore we’re determined to do this and do this right for our fans.”
The CCHL’s new interim commissioner, Sean Marcellus, is backing the program and feels that it’s going to help the league grow its brand. “CCHL Radio marks a transformative milestone for the league’s broadcasting efforts.” says Marcellus, “For our teams, CCHL Radio will add another component of broadcasting, alongside HockeyTV to assist in amplifying their exposure, attracting passionate supporters and honing their local connections.” Marcellus also added that this program will set the stage for a new era of hockey, which will unite the fans and help propel the CCHL to further success.
CCHL Radio will be live beginning the 2023-24 season and will cover a number of games throughout the year for all the teams in the CCHL. The stream will be run online, and the link will be made available on the CCHL website come September.
