VanHorn's hat trick lifts Carleton Place to 5-4 OT victory over Cumberland

 

The Carleton Place Canadians' Bryce VanHorn scored 3:23 into overtime to beat the Cumberland Grads, 5-4 (OT).

 

Carleton Place forced Cumberland goalie Thierry Messervier to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Carleton Place also got points from Connor Merkley, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Carleton Place also got a goal from Alex Friesen as well. More assists for Carleton Place came via Marcus Joseph, Geoff Kitt, and Maxime StPierre, who contributed one each and Nicolas Carrier and Brett Murray, who each chipped in two.

The Grads were helped by Jared Leslie, who registered one goal. Leslie scored 2:03 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cumberland. Simon Besner provided the assist. Cumberland additionally got points from Shawn Cameron, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Cumberland also had goals scored by Branden Makara and Joey Sollazzo, who scored one goal each. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Zackhary Salloum, Grant Hebert, Marc-Olivier Bouchard, and DAndre John, who contributed one each.

James Edwardson rejected 23 shots on goal for the Canadians. Carleton Place incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Thierry Messervier made 27 saves for Cumberland on 32 shots. The Grads incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
