Update | The CCHL forced to pause play after Provincial Mandate

OTTAWA, ON – The Central Canada Hockey League has announced a Province of Ontario mandated pause in play as of January 5, 2022.

Despite our best intentions and detailed plans after the December 30 provincial announcement, the January 3, 2022 reversal by the province requires us to change course and allows us to resume training on January 26, 2022 at all twelve member team locations.

Our game resumption is January 28, 2022, and we will have a full slate of games to reach the 55-game regular season.  Our full play-off schedule will follow, giving our players a complete season despite this unplanned interruption of play.

We are proud of the efforts of our teams and the commitment shown by players, parents, coaches, trainers, management, and ownership to safely deliver the highest level of play and highest level of adherence to policy anywhere.

We also thank our supporters for their patience and understanding as we continue to meet the changing expectations.  We appreciate it more than any release can say.

While we are profoundly disappointed in the abrupt change in a matter of a few days and fail to understand how this could be reasonably enacted, the CCHL will continue to lead in terms of following all public health guidelines from the Province of Ontario to ensure the safest environment for everyone involved.
