Tugnutt leads Kemptville to tough 4-3 win over Cornwall

 

The game between the Kemptville 73s and the Cornwall Colts was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Kemptville emerged with a 4-3 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Matt Tugnutt secured the win for the 73s with a goal in the third period.

 

Tugnutt had one goal and two assists to lead Kemptville. Tugnutt scored 19:52 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Kemptville. Adam Alavi assisted on the tally.

The 73s forced Cornwall goalie Brett Nichol to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots.

Kemptville additionally got points from Cameron Russell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Kemptville included Owen Guy and Bobby Dow, who scored one goal each. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Quinn Wichers, Brandon Cole, Dean Kiriacou, and Alex Row, who each chipped in one.

The Colts were helped by Brennan Markell, who tallied one goal. Markell scored 2:09 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Cornwall. Jeremy McFarlane picked up the assist. Cornwall also got points from Grant Cooper, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Nick Lalonde also scored for Cornwall. More assists for Cornwall came via Ross Craig, who had two and Dean Derouchie and Tanner Spink, who contributed one each.

Nicholas Hodgins made 26 saves for Kemptville on 29 shots. The 73s incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Nichol recorded 41 saves for Cornwall. The Colts incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
