Thursday Recap: Colts, Lasers earn wins

Oct. 12, 2017

Cornwall 4, Hawkesbury 1

A 36-save performance from Liam Lascelle led the Cornwall Colts to a much-needed 4-1 win over the visiting Hawkesbury Hawks.

Joel Frazee gave Hawkesbury (8-5-0) an initial first-period lead, but goals from Justin McRae and Alex Monteleone proved the difference for Cornwall (7-8-1), which added two empty-net goals late.

Matt Petizian stopped 20 of 22 shots in taking the loss for the Hawks.

Kanata 5, Smiths Falls 2

Joe Marcouiller’s 48-save effort was enough to earn him his first-ever CCHL win, as the Kanata Lasers and their goaltender beat the visiting Smiths Falls Bears 5-2.

Five different players — Tanner Schroeder, Connor Sleeth, Liam Markhauser, Jack Quinn and Bennett Stockdale — each found the net for Kanata (7-7-3) in the win, while Christophe Bohemier and Michael Larose scored for Smiths Falls (6-9-0).

Thursday’s loss was the first game action in nearly a month for Smiths Falls goaltender Brad Dobson, who allowed four goals on 30 shots.
