Thursday Recap

As per usual Thursday featured home games for both Cornwall and Kanata. Navan travelled to the Ed Lumley Arena while Carleton Place visited Laser land.

Within the opening two minutes Kanata came out guns a blazing jumping out to an 2-0 lead. Spencer Van Tiem opened the scoring 68 seconds into the 1st – his 2nd. Forty seconds later Derek St. Jean gave Kanata an insurance goal. Midway through the 1st veteran D-Man Cade Townend got CP right back in – his 1st of 2018. Ben Tupker evened the scoring with a powerplay goal with under three minutes left. No scoring to speak of in the 2nd as the teams would enter the final period tied at 2. Back to back goals early in the 3rd from Peyton Francis and Andrej Hromic gave the Canadians four unanswered goals as they hung on to beat the Lasers on the road at the KRC. Owen Bennett got his first win of the season, stopping 29 of 31.

Navan Grads 4  Cornwall Colts 6

The Colts entered Thursday’s action seeking consecutive victories at home, as Navan rolled into town. It was all Cornwall in the 1st as they came out of the gates with five goals. (Barnes, Poissant, MacCormick, McRae, Quesnel) It was 5-1 for the home side heading into period two. The Grads made a game of it with two of their own in the 2nd courtesy of Justin Jamer and Curtis Fabbro. 18:45 into the 3rd Navan cut the lead to 5-4 as Calvin Moise buried his 3rd. An empty and 2nd of the night from Josh Barnes sealed the victory for the home side. Michael Carr and Rico Dimatteo split the duties in goal for the Colts.
