Four games were featured on Sunday, all afternoon puck drops. Arguably the marquee match up took place in Carleton Place as the undefeated Hawks took their 4-0 record to face the 3-0-0-1 Canadians.

 

Smiths Falls Bears 4  Kemptville 73’s 5

Back and fourth the Bears and 73’s exchanged the lead multiple times. It took only 42 seconds for Wisconsin’s Jacob Thousand to get Kemptville an early 1st period advantage. The Bears Alex Dicarlo evened the score at the 11:49 mark. Two more 1st period goals from Kemptville and a big short handed tally from Adam Church and the 73’s lead 3-2 after one. Smiths Falls grabbed the lead in the 2nd with goals from Jacob Cuffley and Brian Bygrave. In the back half of the 3rd Kemptville was able to retake the lead and snag the win, Gavin Wood buried his 2nd of the afternoon, the game winner.

Cornwall Colts 1  Nepean Raiders 3

Both teams were seeking their first wins on the year heading into Sunday’s game. Cornwall’s Ethan Mulhearn potted the only goal throughout  the 1st at the 8:16 mark to get the Colts the lead. Nepean was able to tie it up in the middle frame as Jack Miles scored his 1st CCHL goal. 15:27 into the 3rd Geoff Dempster was credited with the game winning goal prior to Willam Venne icing it with an empty netter. Logan Bateman made 31 saves for the win.

Rockland Nationals 2  Navan Grads 1 

It was a defensive battle of the goaltenders between the Nats and the Grads on Sunday. Rockland narrowly lead the shot count 38-35 and equally narrowly edged out a 2-1 victory. Rockland’s Alex Robert 1st period tally had the Nats up 1-0 after the 1st. The lone Navan goal came via the powerplay as Justin Jamer scored his 1st of 2018 in thew 2nd. With under 3 minutes left in regulation Jack Sullivan found the cage and the Nationals were able to hang on to secure the 2-1 win.

Hawkesbury Hawks 4  Carleton Place Canadians 3

The Hawks hot start continued on Sunday in Carleton Place and it was the Jeremie Lavallee show. Canadians fans were taking in their home opener and Jackson Sterrett gave them reason to cheer with a goal 3:21 into the 1st. The Hawks Luke Grainger was able to tie the game at the 12:58 mark. Two in the first and one early in the 3rd courtsey of Jeremie Lavallee produced a natural hat trick for the Hawkesbury forward, giving him an unreal 6 goals in 5 games. CPC’s Zachary Tupker gave all he could in the 3rd to rally the Canadians who fell just a goal short. Hawkesbury improves to 5-0-0-0.
