Smiths Falls blows out Gloucester, 4-1

 

The Smiths Falls Bears had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Gloucester Rangers.

 

Karson McCartney had two goals and one assist to lead Smiths Falls. McCartney scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 8:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Smiths Falls. The Bears had taken the advantage when Gloucester's Cameron Hughes got sent off for high sticking. Taylor Henry picked up the assist. McCartney's next tally on the power play made the score 4-1 Smiths Falls with 57 seconds left in the third period. Josh Leblanc assisted on the tally.

Smiths Falls additionally got points from Jared Henry, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Nicolas Coates also scored for Smiths Falls. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Noah Gurr, who had one.

The Rangers could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Gloucester averages 3.2 goals per game.

The Rangers were led by Vincent Guimond, who scored the team's only goal. Guimond scored on the power play 6:15 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Smiths Falls. Gloucester had gained a power play chance when Sebastien Barrette was whistled for tripping. Dorian Dawson provided the assist.

Michael Pinios recorded 29 saves for Smiths Falls. The Bears incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Smiths Falls ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Henry was ejected from the game. The Rangers' David Richer stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Gloucester incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
