Smiths Falls Bears Acquire Alex Way

Navan, Ontario – The Smiths Falls Bears announced today that they have acquired ’98 born forward Alex Way from the Navan Grads in exchange for ’00 defenceman Zack Pilon and ’00 forward Byran Bygrave.

Way, 20, is in his fifth and final year of hockey in the CCHL. The Ottawa, Ontario, native scored two goals and eight points with the Navan Grads before the trade. He now joins his third CCHL team – having played for Ottawa (2014-17), Navan (2017-18) and now Smiths Falls. The uncommitted forward has 114 points (47 G / 67 A) in 214 career CCHL games .

Pilon, 17, is now playing for his fourth team in three seasons. He started his junior career in the CCHL2 with the Athens Aeros in 2016-17 before making the jump the Major Junior level last season. He has one goal and three assists this season.

Bygrave, 18, is in his third season of CCHL action after playing for the Bears as a 16-year-old in 2016-17. The Kanata, Ontario, native scored 11 goals last season and has three goals and one assist this year.
