Ottawa, ON — After an exceptional season the Rockland Nationals are soared to a Bogart Cup Championship after defeating the Carleton Place Canadians 5-4 in overtime this afternoon. They proved their talent and skill taking the series 4-0. The Nationals will head to Calgary Alberta this week for the Centennial Cup where they will face off against other league champions from around the country. The schedule can be found here.
Rockland 5, Carleton Place 4 (OT)
Rockland edged out Carleton Place 5-4 in overtime in a thrilling matchup. Rockland struck first late in the opening period with a goal from Penney and extended their lead early in the second with Charron’s marker. Carleton Place responded quickly through Doucet, but Rockland answered with goals from O’Connor and Myloserdnyy to build a 4-1 lead. Kay pulled one back for Carleton Place late in the second, and in the third, Bouwer and Kay struck again to even the score. In overtime, Hall netted the game-winner for Rockland at 2:57. Rockland outshot Carleton Place 41-26, while neither team capitalized on the power play.
