Release | Raiders Luke Posthumus named 2022-23 Rookie of the Year

OTTAWA, ON – The Central Canada Hockey League is pleased to announce that Nepean Raiders forward Luke Posthumus has been named the 2022-23 Rookie of the Year.

The 2005 born Nepean, ON native and NCAA Northeastern University commit sits tops among all CCHL rookie skaters in Goals (17), Assists (26) and Points (43) through 52 games of action. He earned Rookie of the Month honours on two occasions.

“Luke’s hockey sense is elite”, said Raiders Head Coach Jerrett DeFazio. “He has the ability to find open ice and unleash his pro shot. he can finish as well as make passes in traffic to his line-mates. As a rookie he fought through opponents game plans to neutralize his talent through physicality and he often was the winner in many one on one battles, especially in the second half as he adapted to the size and speed of the league.”

Prior to his time with the CCHL Raiders, Posthumus spent the 2021-22 season with the Raiders U18AAA program where he was named HEO U18 AAA Most Valuable Player as he helped Nepean to a League title. The U18 Raiders went on to represent Hockey Eastern Ontario at the Central Region Ontario Championships in which Posthumus led the event in Goal Scoring and was named to the Tournament All-Star Team.

He came up through the Myers AAA and Nepean Raiders AA Minor Hockey programs.
