Ottawa, ON – The Central Canada Hockey League is pleased to announce that Carleton Place Canadians defenseman Brett Thorne has been named 2019-20 Defenseman of the Year.

The 1999 born Bedford, NS native led all league defenders with 74 points (27G, 47A) in 62 games of action. In 195 career combined regular season and playoff games, the Michigan Tech commit has totaled 173 points (50G, 123A).

“Brett’s maturity in the last 3 years as a person and as a player has been very special to be a part of,” said Canadians Head Coach Jason Clarke. “The respect he has earned from his teammates has been incredible to watch as a coach over the last 3 years. He has gained a lot of life skills here in CP that is going to allow him to do some very special things on his next journey.”

Thorne joins Tim Theocharidis (2017-18) and Owen Grant (2016-17) as Carleton Place Canadians players to be named Defenseman of the Year.
