Release | Canadians Brandon Walker named 2022-23 CCHL Defenseman of the Year

OTTAWA, ON – The Central Canada Hockey League is pleased to announce that Carleton Place Canadians defenseman Brandon Walker has been voted the 2022-23 Defenseman of the Year.

The 2002 born Pierrefonds, QC native leads all CCHL defensemen in Points (50) and Goals (21) through 52 games of action. Walker, who is in his second and final season with the Canadians, has totalled 76 points (27G, 49A) in 96 career games.

“When I acquired Walks last year we spoke frequently about his mindset in being elite and a difference maker every night”, said Canadians Head Coach Brent Sullivan. “Walks has fully bought into the process of bringing his best everyday and I could not be more proud of him for that.”

“Numbers speak for itself, he is an elite offensive defenseman who can run a powerplay at the next level. What people may not see is how competitive he is, the great conditioning he has, and the incredible teammate he is. I will not be able to replace the combination of player and person Walks is. Very proud of him for winning this award.”

Walker is the fourth Carleton Place Canadians defenseman to win this award, joining Owen Grant (2016-17), Tim Theocharidis (2017-18), and Brett Thorne (2019-20).
