Release | Bears Sean James named 2021-22 CCHL Most Valuable Player

OTTAWA, ON – The Central Canada Hockey League is pleased to announce that Smiths Falls Bears forward Sean James has been voted the 2021-22 Most Valuable Player.

The 2002 born Almonte, ON native finished the season at the top of the CCHL scoring race with a whopping 93 points (33G, 60A) in 55 games of action, 17-points ahead of Ottawa’s Philippe Jacques who finished 2nd.

“Sean has been an outstanding performer for the Smiths Falls Bears since the onset of the season,” said Bears Head Coach Pat Malloy. Serving as captain of the youngest team in the CCHL in his 1st Jr A season, Sean has led by example night after night and has excelled in all situations of the game. He has exhibited elite goal scoring and playmaking abilities, and has played his best hockey in the biggest moments. To lead the CCHL in scoring with his unselfishness and humility is truly a remarkable feat, and a testament to the development path of the CCHL. He is incredibly deserving of the league’s MVP award.”

Prior to his time in the CCHL, James played one season with the Bears U18 AAA club in 2018-19 before spending 2019-20 with the Bears Jr B affiliate the Westport Rideaus. He came up through the Ottawa Valley Silver Seven AA and Ottawa Valley Titans AAA programs. He is a product of the Almonte Minor Hockey Association.
