Smiths Falls 5, Rockland 2
Smiths Falls jumped out to a commanding lead with three power-play goals in the first period from Heron, Ouellette, and Booth, setting the tone for a 5-2 win over Rockland. Rockland responded in the second with a goal from Kelloway, but Smiths Falls extended their lead early in the third with a tally from Parker. Bowes scored for Rockland to close the gap, but Cardillo sealed the victory for Smiths Falls with an empty-netter late in the period. Despite being outshot in the second, Smiths Falls edged Rockland in total shots (33-32) and dominated on special teams, going 3-for-6 on the power play while Rockland failed to capitalize on any of their six opportunities. Goalie Morrow made 30 saves in the win for Smiths Falls.
Navan 3, Carleton Place 2 (OT)
Navan edged Carleton Place 3-2 in overtime despite being heavily outshot, thanks to a stellar 53-save performance from goaltender Gagne. After a scoreless first period, Navan opened the scoring early in the second with Kingwell’s goal, but Carleton Place quickly answered through Barton. Johnson gave Navan a 2-1 lead with a buzzer-beater goal at the end of the second. Prud’homme tied the game for Carleton Place with a third-period power-play goal, sending it to overtime. Poulin played hero for Navan, scoring the game-winner at 5:53 of the extra frame to cap off the win. Carleton Place went 1-for-2 on the power play, while Navan had no opportunities.
