Renfrew defeated Ottawa 6-5 in a thrilling game, overcoming an early deficit with four quick goals in the third period. Ottawa opened the scoring with Greco’s goal early in the first, but Renfrew responded quickly with Protopapas’ equalizer. Ottawa regained the lead with Matsukubo’s goal, but Renfrew tied it again in the second with Cameron’s power-play goal and then took the lead with a short-handed tally from Cameron. Ottawa briefly regained the advantage with Ouellette’s goal, but Renfrew surged ahead in the third, with Rebertz, Glover, and Kobylecki scoring in quick succession. Ottawa made a late push with goals from Offman and Ouellette, but it wasn’t enough to catch Renfrew. The teams combined for 52 shots, with Renfrew’s Suys stopping 26 of 31 and Ottawa’s Scully and Paddock making 15 saves on 21 shots. Renfrew went 1-for-3 on the power play, while Ottawa was held scoreless on three opportunities.
