Ottawa, ON — It was a nail bitting affair at the Nepean Sportsplex Wednesday evening when the Hawkesbury Hawks defeated the Nepean Raiders 4-3 in overtime.

Hawkesbury 4, Nepean 3 (OT)

In a thrilling game between Hawkesbury and Nepean, the Hawks edged out a 4-3 victory in overtime. Nepean struck early with a goal from Benoit just 37 seconds into the first period, but Hawkesbury responded in the second with Jette’s equalizer at 13:16. The third period saw more back-and-forth action: Nepean’s Kahriman gave his team the lead early, but Hawkesbury answered with goals from Bandu and Skoczylas, putting them ahead. Nepean pulled back with Thompson’s goal at 17:19, forcing overtime. In the extra frame, Pelchat netted the game-winner for the Hawks at 1:10. Both teams had plenty of shots, with Hawkesbury outshooting Nepean 41-40, though both goalies, Ruddy for Hawkesbury and Gedraitis for Nepean, made 37 saves in an impressive display. Despite numerous penalties on both sides, neither team capitalized on the power play, as both finished 0-for-3.
