Ottawa, ON — The CCHL saw 3 games on Sunday, each of them ending 4-3 with Carleton Place, Rockland and Pembroke taking home the wins.
Carleton Place 4, Hawkesbury 3
Carleton Place defeated Hawkesbury 4-3 in a tightly contested game. The Hawks took an early lead in the first period with Skoczylas’ power-play goal, but Carleton Place responded with two goals, including a late power-play marker from Barton. The second period saw no scoring, but the game exploded in the third, with Froysland netting his second for Carleton Place and Kay adding another. Hawkesbury fought back with power-play goals from Perron and Bandu, but it wasn’t enough. Despite a strong effort, including 33 shots on goal, Hawkesbury couldn’t overcome Carleton Place’s 41 shots and a solid performance from goalie Ferguson.
Rockland 4, Navan 3
Rockland triumphed over Navan 4-3 in a closely contested match. Navan took an early lead with goals from Purdy and Fillion, but Rockland answered with Kelloway’s first-period goal. In the second, Johnson’s goal extended Navan’s lead, but Rockland’s Le Houillier scored on the power play late in the period to keep the game tight. The third period saw Rockland rally with Marshall’s quick goal, followed by Myloserdnyy’s tally to take the lead. Despite a solid effort from Navan goalie Gagne, who made 31 saves, Rockland’s 35 shots and strong performances from Forget (27 saves) secured the victory.
Pembroke 4, Nepean 3
Pembroke edged Nepean 4-3 in a dramatic game that saw three goals in the final minutes. After an early first-period goal from Carvalho, Nepean responded with Houben’s goal, leaving the game tied 1-1 at the break. The second period was scoreless, but Nepean surged ahead early in the third with Smith’s goal, only for Pembroke to quickly answer with Alegria’s tally. Nepean regained the lead with Campbell’s goal at 16:39, but Pembroke responded late with two quick strikes—Carvalho’s second of the game and Hayes’ goal in the final minute—to secure the win. Both goaltenders displayed a strong performance with Nepean’s Brant making 33 saves while Pembroke’s Ferguson made 28 saves for the victory.
