Ottawa, ON —The CCHL saw one game Thursday night featuring Carleton Place Canadians and Cornwall Colts, in which the Canadians came out ahead 3-2.
Carleton Place Canadians edged the Cornwall Colts 3-2 in a closely contested game. After a scoreless first period, marked by penalties including a major and game misconduct to Cornwall’s Walker for high-sticking, Carleton Place opened the scoring in the second period with Small’s power-play goal assisted by Prud’homme and Kay at 4:32. Cornwall responded with Fraser’s power-play tally from Miron and Goyette at 14:56. In the third period, Small struck again on the power play at 2:12, followed by Payie’s goal at 4:24, also with the man advantage. Cornwall’s Pyke closed the gap to 3-2 at 13:03, assisted by Miron and Fraser. The game featured heavy penalties, including a gross misconduct to Cornwall’s Kluksdahl at 14:39. Carleton Place converted 3 of 3 power plays, while Cornwall managed 1 of 8. Shots on goal favored Cornwall 28-23, but Carleton Place’s goalies Vandenberg and Ferguson combined for 26 saves, while Cornwall’s Chabot stopped 20 of 23.
