RECAP | Carleton Place and Rockland win at home Friday night

Carleton Place 4, Navan 2
Carleton Place defeated Navan 4-2 in a tightly contested matchup, led by a two-goal performance from Blaseg, including an empty-netter late in the third. The game opened with a power-play goal from Carleton Place’s Blaseg, followed by goals from Navan’s Johnson and Carleton Place’s Allaby to end the first period 2-1. Navan tied it early in the second with Kingwell’s goal, but McVie-Stevenson restored the Carleton Place lead later in the period. Despite outshooting Carleton Place 34-30, Navan couldn’t capitalize on their chances, going 0-for-2 on the power play, while Carleton Place went 1-for-6. Goalie Vandenberg made 32 saves to secure the win for Carleton Place.

Rockland 6, Smiths Falls 2
Rockland cruised to a 6-2 win over Smiths Falls, powered by a hat trick from Hall and a dominant second period in which they scored three unanswered goals. Hall opened the scoring in the first, but Smiths Falls responded with a goal from Cardillo to tie it before the break. Rockland took control in the second with goals from Hall, Laframboise, and Marshall, building a 4-1 lead. Smiths Falls’ Parker cut the deficit in the third, but Rockland sealed the game with an empty-net goal from Gagné and Hall’s third of the night. Despite being outshot 37-26, Smiths Falls couldn’t convert on either of their two power plays, while Rockland also went 0-for-5. Forget made 24 saves in the win for Rockland.
