Ottawa, ON- We kicked off the Thanksgiving weekend portion of the schedule with some doozies as Ottawa and Smiths Falls pick up big wins
Smiths Falls 5 Hawkesbury 2
The Bears have been apart of some low scoring matchups in recent games. Tonight was not one of those games for them. The got two in the opening frame from Kyle Dagg and Chris Cardillo. The second is where they exploded for three more to blow the game open; sniper Peyton Veltkamp got his first two CCHL goals while Andrea Blais added another. The shutout bid was foiled in the third as Alexis Trudeau buried his 1st of the season.
NEXT UP: Smiths Falls return home for a Friday night matchup against the Renfrew Wolves. Hawkesbury continue their home stand as they take on defending champs in the Navan Grads on a busy Friday night long weekend schedule
Ottawa 3 Cornwall 2 (SO)
This had a playoff type feel as these Yzerman division foes hit the ice. After no goals in the first, Jr. Senators Clement Valette opened the scoring for the lone 2nd period goal. The Colts took the lead in the 3rd with goals from Lyndon Lamb and Bradley Fraser before Ottawa tied it up late off the stick of Tomislav Brennan. After overtime decided nothing, it took the 6th round of the shootout before Antoine Demers gave Ottawa the win. Fun game for the fans in attendance.
NEXT UP: Ottawa plays the second of a back to back as they travel to Brockville to face the Braves Friday night. While Cornwall, also on a back to back Friday night, travel west to Kemptville for a game against the 73’s.
