Ottawa, ON — Friday night games saw all visiting teams head home with wins.
Navan 6, Kemptville 1
The Navan Grads secured a dominant 6-1 win over the Kemptville. Navan took the lead in the first period with Ramsay’s goal at 5:13, and then exploded in the second period, with Marcellino netting a hat trick and Brown adding a goal to put them ahead 5-1. In the third period, Purdy extended the lead with a power-play goal, bringing the score to 6-1. Despite 5 power-play opportunities, Kemptville was unable to score, while Navan converted 2 of 5 chances. Navan’s Hodgins earned the win with 30 saves, while Kemptville’s Bennett and Donovan shared duties in net, combining for 23 saves on 29 shots.
Rockland 8, Brockville 3
The Rockland Nationals defeated the Brockville Braves 8-3. After Brockville took a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal from Dostaler in the first period, Rockland responded with two goals from Tellier and Bowes to lead 2-1. Brockville tied it early in the second period with another power-play goal from Dinis, but Rockland dominated with five unanswered goals from Charron, Bowes, Myloserdnyy, and Gagné, taking a 7-3 lead. Myloserdnyy added another in the third period to seal the win. Rockland outshot Brockville 47-27, with Forget making 24 saves for the win, while Brockville’s goalies, Gerlich and Caracciolo, combined for 23 saves. Rockland failed to convert on four power-play opportunities, while Brockville went 2-for-6.
Cornwall 3, Smiths Falls 1
The Cornwall Colts defeated the Smiths Falls Bears 3-1. After a scoreless first two periods, Cornwall opened the scoring early in the third with McCuaig’s goal at 1:36. Smiths Falls responded quickly with Rabe’s goal at 3:40 to tie it up, but Cornwall regained the lead with a short-handed goal from Warner at 16:22. Cornwall sealed the win with an empty-net goal from Fraser at 19:29. Despite being outshot 40-23, Cornwall’s goaltender Lesperance-Spack was outstanding, stopping 39 of 40 shots. Smiths Falls’ Morrow made 20 saves on 22 shots. Both teams struggled on the power play, with Cornwall going 0-for-3 and Smiths Falls 0-for-4.
Ottawa 5, Hawkesbury 2
The Ottawa Junior Senators defeated the Hawkesbury Hawks 5-2. After a scoreless first period, Ottawa took the lead early in the second with Kozyra’s goal just 10 seconds in. Hawkesbury responded with Jette’s goal at 4:08, but Ottawa quickly regained control with goals from Matsukubo and Brennan to make it 3-1. In the third period, Ottawa extended their lead with Iserhoff’s goal and later sealed the win with an empty-netter from Kane. Hawkesbury’s Rose scored a late goal, but it wasn’t enough. Despite Ottawa going 0-for-6 on the power play and Hawkesbury 0-for-3, Ottawa outshot Hawkesbury 37-33. Paddock earned the win in net for Ottawa with 31 saves, while Ruddy made 32 saves in a losing effort for Hawkesbury.
