Quinn Named CCM Player of the Week

Ottawa, Ont. — The Central Canada Hockey League announced today that Kanata Lasers forward Jack Quinn has been named CCM Player of the Week for Sept. 25-Oct. 1.

Quinn, 16, had four goals — two of them game-winners — in three games for the Lasers including a hat-trick on Oct. 1 in Kemptville against the 73’s.

Since returning from Ottawa 67’s OHL camp, Quinn — a Cobden, Ont. native — has registered a team-high seven goals.

Those goals have made the 5-foot-10, 160-lb. forward the early frontrunner in the CCHL’s rookie scoring race.

Players receiving honourable mention this week were Rockland defenceman Jordan Power and Brockville goaltender Justin Evenson.

Power, another true-16 rookie like Quinn, had a goal and three assists as Rockland swept its three-game weekend. The Kanata native leads CCHL rookie defencemen in scoring with 10 points in 12 games.

Evenson, an 18-year-old Minnesotan, stopped 45 of 47 shots faced en route to two key wins for his Brockville Braves — the Minnehaha product leads the CCHL in goals-against (1.71) and save-% (.943).
