Ottawa holds on for 3-2 win against Smiths Falls

 

The Ottawa Senators survived a determined comeback attempt by the Smiths Falls Bears on the way to a 3-2 win.

Ottawa made the score 3-1 on a goal by Daniel Sarracco at 19:56 in the second period, and Smiths Falls got as close as 3-2 when Josh Leblanc scored 10:48 into the third period.

 

The Senators pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 12 penalty minutes.

Ottawa additionally got points from Sean Rappleyea, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Ottawa also got a goal from Bruno Cheff as well. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Brendan Valko, who had two and Jim Pearson and Cody Bean, who contributed one each.

Smiths Falls also got points from Chris MacMillan, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Kevin Groulx and Karson McCartney, who each chipped in one.

Alexandre Savard-Belanger made 21 saves for Ottawa on 23 shots. The Senators registered one goal on five power play opportunities. The Bears' starting goalie, Cole Skinner, made 10 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Michael Pinios, who stopped four shots. Smiths Falls incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
