Ottawa downs Cumberland, 5-1

Carl Faucher had one point to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 5-1 victory over the Cumberland Grads.

Ottawa put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cumberland to score on any of its three power plays.

Ottawa also had goals scored by Shawn Lynch and Brandon Watt, who each put in two. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Matthew Cruickshank, Connor Bebb, Isaac Anderson, Charles Corriveau, and Jim Pearson, who each chipped in one and Joey Champigny and Zach Car, who contributed two each.

The Grads were led by Alexander Sifton, who scored the team’s only goal. Sifton scored 5:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cumberland. Brett Faber provided the assist.

Ian Andriano rejected 20 shots on goal for the Senators. Ottawa incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kevin Gollmer made 23 saves for Cumberland on 28 shots. The Grads incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
