NJAC | Jr Senators open against MJHL’s Portage Terriers

 

Ottawa, ON – It’s opening day of the 2019 National Junior A Championships in Brooks, AB as the Ottawa Jr Senators take on Manitoba’s Portage Terriers.

OTTAWA: After finishing second overall in the CCHL, the Jr Senators went on to knock out the Kanata Lasers, Brockville Braves, and Carleton Place Canadians in postseason play to capture their second straight Arthur Bogart Cup. From there, Ottawa traveled to Amherst, NS for the Fred Page Cup Eastern Canadian Championships where they went 2-0-1 in round-robin play before defeating the Host Amherst Ramblers in the Semi-Final and then dominating the Princeville Titan of the QJHL in the Championship Game to capture their second consecutive Fred Page Cup and punch their ticket to Nationals. 

PORTAGE: The Terriers finished first overall in MJHL regular season play before going 12-3 in postseason play, eliminating the Waywayseecappo Wolverines, Virden Oil Capitals, and Swan Valley Stampeders to advance to the Anavet Cup where they defeated the SJHL champion Battlefords North Stars in 5 games.
