Morning Recap | Ten teams in action across region Sunday

 

OTTAWA, ON – A busy Sunday saw ten teams in action with victories coming from the Smiths Falls Bears, Nepean Raiders, Hawkesbury Hawks, Kemptville 73’s, and Pembroke Lumber Kings.

 

SMITHS FALLS 7 CORNWALL 6 SO

Sean James scored twice, Riley Thompson, Owen Watson, Kyle Maloney, and Brody Fournier had singles, Fournier also netted the Shootout winner, while Will McEvoy made 26-saves as Smiths Falls kept their playoff hopes alive, improving to 21-25-3-1 on the season. Cornwall, who fell to 12-31-3-5, had two goals from affiliate Kaiden Pyke, singles from Wil McKinley, Brayden Bowen, Bradley Fraser, and Keanu Krenn, while Dax Easter made 28-saves in the loss.

 

NEPEAN 5 BROCKVILLE 3

Affiliates Jack Matsukubo and Nicholas Larkin scored their first career CCHL goals, Jack Hillier, Zachary Lefebvre, and Ryan Liverman also found the back of the net, while Nathan Loisel made 30-saves as Nepean improved to 12-37-2-0 on the year. Brockville, who dropped to 34-16-0-2, had two goals from Ryan Bonfield and a single from Caleb Kean, while Brandon Abbott made 36-saves in the losing effort.

 

HAWKESBURY 6 CARLETON PLACE 2

Mark Cooper scored two goals, Jakson Kirk, Rylee Hlusiak, Jeremy Quesnel, and Kerfalla Toure also scored, while Matthew Tovell made 24-saves as Hawkesbury improved to 35-11-3-2 on the season. Carleton Place, who dropped to a record of 17-30-2-3, had goals from Isaac Pascoal and Jackson Hay, while Joe Chambers made 28-saves in the loss.

 

KEMPTVILLE 5 NAVAN 2

Jeff Taylor, Nathan Merrett, Ty Whyte, Brock Krulicki, and Hunter Brazier all scored in the second frame, while Tyler Laureault made 28-saves as Kemptville improved on the season to 26-17-5-3. Navan, who fell to 25-21-1-2, had goals from Joshua Beiles and Ryan Burke, while Ben West made 19-saves in the loss.

 

PEMBROKE 3 RENFREW 2 SO

Jack Stockfish and Carter Vollett scored in regulation, Joe Jordan had the shootout winner, while Reece Proulx made 31-saves as Pembroke improved on the year to 29-18-2-2. Renfrew, who fell to 32-16-1-2, had goals from Alex Rossides and Connor Garcia, while Will Craig made 33-saves on the losing side of things.
