Morning Recap | Opening Showcase | Day 1

 

Ottawa, ON – The Central Canada Hockey League has seen Day 1 of the Opening Showcase come and go as all twelve teams were in action. Coming out in the win column were the Kanata Lasers, Cornwall Colts, Carleton Place Canadians, Pembroke Lumber Kings, and Ottawa Jr Senators.

 

F | KANATA 7 ROCKLAND 4

Paul Larabie (2G, 1A), Julien Recine (2G), Jordan Morgan (1G, 2A), Trevor Poeze (1G, 2A), and Lukash Matthews (1G) all found the back of the net, while Jean-Philippe Tourigny finished with 29-saves as Kanata improved to 2-1-0 on the season. For Rockland, it was Matthew Vermaeten (2G), Gunnar Smith (1G, 1A), and Joe Jordan (1G) who tallied goals, while Cyrus Martin made 16-saves in the losing effort as the Nationals fell to 2-1-0. 

 

F | CORNWALL 6 SMITHS FALLS 3

Emerick Nadeau (2G), Konnor MacCormick (1G, 2A), Tanner Tarbell (1G, 1A), Christophe Cote (1G, 1A), and Bradley Shaw (1G) tallied goals while Rico Dimatteo made 37-saves as Cornwall  (1-2-0) picked up their first victory on the year. Bruce Coltart (2G), and Thomas Quick (1G) replied for Smiths Falls, while Jake Smith made 27-saves in the loss as the Bears fell to 0-2-1 on the season.

 

F | CARLETON PLACE 4 HAWKESBURY 2

Ryan Bonfield had a natural hat trick, Mark Cooper  also found the net, while Devon Levi finished with 29-saves as Carleton Place improved to 3-1-0 on the season. Zachary Lefebvre and Case Kantgias responded for the Hawks, while Mathieu Chenier made 25-saves as the Hawks fell to 1-2-0 on the year.

 

F | PEMBROKE 3 NAVAN 2

Fletcher Anderson (2G), and Cameron Hough (1G) were the goal scorers, while Reese Proulx made 30-saves as Pembroke improved to 3-0-0 on the season. Zane Dalpe and Devyn Orpana scored for the Grads, while Alex Wisco made 20-saves as Navan fell to 2-2-0 on the year.

 

F | BROCKVILLE 3 NEPEAN 1

Cody Bruchkowski tallied two goals, Mathieu Wuth had a single, while Jake Begley made 23-saves as Brockville improved to 2-1-0 on the season. Curtis Abbott was the lone goal scorer for Nepean, while Andrew Rose made 25-saves for the 0-3-0 Raiders.

 

F | OTTAWA 5 KEMPTVILLE 4

Ethan Mulhearn (2G, 1A), Vincent Velocci (1G, 1A), Ranvir Gill-Shane (1G), and Thomas Freel (1G) provided the offense, while Felix Schnell made 16-saves as Ottawa improved to 2-1-0 on the season. Kemptville, who fell to 1-2-0 on the year, received goals from Jared Patterson (2G), Dylan Bond (1G, 2A), and Madoka Suzuki (1G, 2A), while Riley McCabe made 29-saves in the loss.
