The Rockland Nationals pulled away after a competitive opening period to defeat the Smiths Falls Bears 6–2 on Wednesday night at the Smiths Falls Memorial Centre.
Smiths Falls struck first, just 20 seconds into the game as Smith opened the scoring with his fourth of the postseason. The Bears doubled their lead at 5:07 of the first period when Hails converted on the power play, giving the home side an early 2–0 advantage. Rockland responded quickly when Le Houillier sparked the comeback with back-to-back goals, scoring at 5:26 and again at 12:56 to even the game before intermission.
The Nationals took control in the second period. Brunet gave Rockland its first lead at 6:34, finishing a setup from Dinis. Late in the frame, Myloserdnyy extended the advantage on the power play, converting a feed from Kelloway and Belleau to make it 4–2.
Rockland continued to press in the third period. Myloserdnyy added his second of the night at 6:15, while Kelloway capped the scoring with a power-play goal at 8:00, assisted by Le Houillier and Belleau. In goal, Newton delivered a steady performance for Rockland, stopping 26 of 28 shots. At the other end, Heideman faced consistent pressure and turned aside 23 of 29 shots.
