Rockland 4, Smiths Falls 3 (OT)
The Rockland Nationals take game two of the Bogart Cup Finals with a 4–3 victory in overtime over the Smiths Falls Bears on Saturday night at the Smiths Falls Memorial Community Centre.
Smiths Falls opened the scoring early in the first period as Smith netted his second of the playoffs at 4:00. Rockland responded quickly, with Garneau scoring his fifth at 6:59 off a pass from Laurent to tie the game. The Nationals then took control with back-to-back goals: Le Houillier struck for his 12th at 10:16, assisted by Turnbull and Garneau, before Kelloway added a power-play marker at 12:25 to give Rockland a 3–1 lead after one period.
The Bears answered in the second. Beauchesne scored his first of the postseason on the power play at 1:06, with Larkin and Parker picking up assists. Late in the frame, Carvalho tied the game 3–3 at 19:26, finishing a play set up by Smith and Heron.
A scoreless third period sent the game to overtime, where Rockland secured the win. At 3:34 of the extra frame, Dinis buried his third of the postseason off assists from Belleau and Kelloway to seal the 4–3 victory.
In goal, Rockland’s Newton made 29 saves on 32 shots for the win, while Smiths Falls goaltender Ruddy stopped 27 of 31 shots. Smiths Falls held a slight edge in shots, 32–31.
