Smiths Falls 4, Ottawa 3 (OT)
The Smiths Falls Bears took game one over the Ottawa Jr. Senators with a 4–3 overtime victory on Friday night at the Smiths Falls Memorial Centre. Heron opened the scoring on the power play, converting a Parker feed early in the first. Ottawa answered in the second as Iserhoff converted off passes from Mead and Tellier. The Bears surged ahead in the third with goals from Benoit and Heins, but Ottawa rallied late—Barney scored with 33 seconds left, and Tellier tied it with one second remaining. In OT, Veltkamp buried the game winner off Heron and Fortier. Ruddy made 26 saves on 29 shots for Smiths Falls, while Morvan stopped 42 of 46 shots for Ottawa in the loss.
