Kanata’s Breton deadly on offense in 3-1 win against Smiths Falls

The Kanata Lasers relied on the scoring touch of Arik Breton, who netted two goals, to beat the Smiths Falls Bears, 3-1.

Breton found the back of the net 2:54 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Kanata and again while 19:03 into the third to make the score 3-1 Kanata.

Smiths Falls was stymied by Kanata’s netminder Brian Wilson, who stopped 32 shots during the victory. Wilson certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.78 entering the contest.

Kanata also got a goal from Bryce Biller as well. More assists for Kanata came via Mike Tropea, who had two.

The Bears stifled the Lasers’ power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Kanata was unable to stop Smiths Falls from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bears eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Smiths Falls was led by Josh Leblanc, who scored the team’s only goal. Leblanc scored on the power play 3:04 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Smiths Falls. The Bears had taken the advantage when the Lasers’ Cameron Radziwon got sent off for cross checking. Michael McKenney picked up the assist.

Kanata incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Michael Pinios recorded 23 saves for Smiths Falls. The Bears incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
