Gloucester blows out Cumberland, 6-1

The Cumberland Grads had trouble finding ways to stop the Gloucester Rangers, which beat Grads, 6-1.

Cumberland was stymied by Gloucester’s netminder David Richer, who stopped 39 shots during the victory. Richer managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.44 prior to the game.

The Rangers’ penalty kill excelled, as Gloucester gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

The Rangers forced the Grads’ goaltenders to work between the pipes, launching 41 shots and forcing 35 saves. Kevin Gollmer made 20 stops and Paul Leger made 15. Gloucester stifled Cumberland’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Rangers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Gloucester has scored at the pace of 3.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

The Rangers were helped by Joey Fallon, who had one goal. Fallon scored 7:09 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Gloucester. Jared Leslie provided the assist. Gloucester additionally got points from Ryan Kuffner, who also grabbed two goals and one assist and Max Veronneau, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Jaren Burke also scored for Gloucester. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Bobby Williams, Zachary Borsoi, Diego Gagnon, Chris Morgan, and Matt Adams, who each chipped in one and Matt Foget and Vincent Guimond, who contributed two each.

The Grads’ penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Gloucester power plays. Gloucester was unable to stop Cumberland from sending pucks towards the net, and the Grads eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Cumberland also got a goal from Thomas Mansbridge as well.

The Rangers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Cumberland incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
