Fred Page Cup | Jr Senators top Carleton Place by 3-2 score

 

Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa Jr Senators continued to stay hot Thursday night, picking up a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Carleton in Day 2 action of the Fred Page Cup.

After a scoreless opening frame, the Jr Sens would add two goals in the second period off the sticks of Pierre-Luc Veillette and Finn Evans. The Canadians would also find the net as Ben Tupker would score his first goal of the tournament.

In the third, it would be Carleton Place who would score first as Travis Broughman would score his second of the tournament. 

The tie would be short lived however as with just six minutes remaining in regulation, Griffin McGregor would pounce on a rebound and make no mistake a he sent a perfect shot past Canadians goaltender Michael Leach to put Ottawa ahead for good. 

With the win, Ottawa improves to 2-0-0 , while Carleton Place falls to 0-2-0 in the tournament. 

Carleton Place is next in action Friday afternoon at 3:30 when they take on the MHL’s Edmundston Blizzard while Ottawa faces off against Collège Français de Longueuil at 7:30.
