Cumberland falls to Carleton Place in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

 

The Carleton Place Canadians' Wesley Baker scored 5:21 into overtime to beat the Cumberland Grads, 2-1 (OT).

 

Baker had a great game for Carleton Place, netting two goals.

The Canadians were led by goalie Adrian Clark, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. Clark managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.01 prior to the game.

Carleton Place put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cumberland to score on any of its four power plays. The Canadians kept the Grads' goalie busy throughout the game, and Kevin Gollmer made 46 saves on 48 shots.

In addition, Carleton Place received assists from David Eccles, Devin Campbell, and Adam Lloyd, who contributed one each.

Cumberland stifled Carleton Place's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Grads were led by Travis Douglas, who scored the team's only goal. Douglas scored short handed 2:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cumberland. Martin Frechette picked up the assist.

The Canadians incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Cumberland incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
