Commitment Alert | Nationals Matthew Vermaeten commits to NCAA Canisius College

Ottawa, ON – The Central Canada Hockey League and Rockland Nationals are pleased to announce that team captain Matthew Vermaeten has committed to NCAA Canisius College for the 2021-22 season.

The 2001 born Ottawa, ON native recently completed his third full season with the Nationals, compiling 51 points (30G, 21A) in 52 games of action. In 162 career combined regular season and playoff games, Vermaeten has totaled 108 points (52G, 56A).

“I am extremely excited about the opportunity to play Division 1 hockey, especially committing to a school with both a strong hockey and academic program,” said Vermaeten. “I have been lucky enough to play for the Nationals for the past three years as Head Coach Dan Sauve has given me all the opportunities I have needed to make the jump to the next level.”

Vermaeten becomes the fifth member of the 2019-20 Nationals to make a college commitment, joining David Lafrance (Robert Morris), Cole Craft (Lake Superior), Simon Labelle (Colgate), and Daniel Menges (Aurora).
