Commitment Alert | Lasers Liam Markhauser commits to University of Ottawa

Kanata, ON – The Central Canada Hockey League and Kanata Lasers are pleased to announce that defenseman Liam Markhauser has committed to USports University of Ottawa for the 2020-2021 season.

The 1999 born Kanata, ON native is in his fourth season with the Lasers where he currently has totaled 5 points (2G, 3A) in 10 games of action. During his four-year tenure, the two-way defenseman has totaled 110 points (24G, 86A) in 193 combined regular season and playoff games.

Markhauser, who wears the captaincy for Kanata, is known to play a steady reliable game while showing tremendous poise and very good puck management ability.  He logs big minutes for the Lasers and plays in all situations, and is a proven leader.

“I could not be more excited to commit to one of the top USports programs in Canada, while at the same time earning a degree in my hometown,” said Markhauser. “It is a chance I have worked really hard for and that I am prepared for. UOttawa has some really amazing people and they have made me feel welcome from our very first point of contact. The steady routines and the sheer competitiveness of the CCHL over the past few years really pushes every player to continue to get better. Having the chance to play with Kanata for 4-years under Tier 1 coaching has really allowed my on-ice game to grow, while being around great people has also helped me mature as a human being.”
