NAVAN, ON – The Central Canada Hockey League and Navan Grads are pleased to announce that forward Gabriel Crete has committed to NCAA Mercyhurst University for the 2023-24 school year.

The 2003 born Gloucester, ON native recently completed his third season with the Grads where he totaled 48 points (18G, 30A) in 54 games of action. He would add another 4 points (2G, 2A) in 6 playoff games. In total, Crete has posted 74 points (28G, 46A) in 109 career games.

Navan Grads Head Coach and General Manager Marty Abrams offered his congratulations to Gabriel on his commitment to Mercyhurst University, “Gabe is one of the hardest competitors I have ever coached. His work ethic day to day is unmatched. He has developed his game to the point where he is called upon to play in all key situations and is the ultimate 200-foot player. A great teammate, Gabe will no doubt have success at the next level; he won’t settle for anything less. It has been a pleasure to have him in our program the past few years. He has made a huge difference in our group.”

Crete is thrilled to officially sign his commitment to Mercyhurst University and the opportunity to join the Lakers NCAA Division I program in 2023-2024, “I’m excited to further my academic and hockey career at Mercyhurst University. I’d like to thank my family, friends and everyone that has helped me along the way. Thanks to the staff in Navan on helping me get this opportunity!”

Prior to his time in the CCHL, Crete played one season with the Grads U18 AAA club in the HEO U18 AAA league. He is a product of the Ottawa Jr 67’s AAA program.
