Commitment Alert | Bears Shawn Sloan commits to NCAA SUNY Canton

The Central Canada Hockey League and Smiths Falls Bears are pleased to announce that defenseman Shawn Sloan has committed to NCAA Division 3 SUNY Canton for the 2020-21 season.

The 1999 born Cardinal, ON native recently completed his final year of junior hockey with the Bears, in which he totaled 11 points (3G, 8A) in 53 games. In 173 career games between the Bears, Nepean Raiders, and Timmins Rock of the NOJHL, Sloan totaled 27 points (4G, 23A).

“My experience in the CCHL was great, in both Smiths Falls and Nepean,” said Sloan. “I really enjoyed my final eligible year with the Bears as it was a great community and spot to play in. The staff there is first class, and the group we had this year was very special. I am extremely grateful for my time there.

“On the next note, I am really excited to be able to continue my education and playing career at Canton. It is the right fit for me.”

Prior to his time at the Junior A level, Sloan suited up for the Prescott Flyers of the CCHL2 in 2016-16 where he tallied 3 goals and totaled 19 points in 45 games of action. He is a product of the Rideau St. Lawrence Kings and South Grenville Rangers minor hockey programs.
