Commitment Alert | 73’s Madoka Suzuki commits to Long Island University

The Central Canada Hockey League and Kemptville 73’s are pleased to announce that forward Madoka Suzuki has committed to NCAA Division 1 Long Island University for the 2020-21 season.

The 2000 born native of Kanagawa Japan and current resident of Belleville, ON recently completed his second and final season as a member of the 73’s, totaling 59 points (27G, 32A) in 61 games of action. In 82 career games with Kemptville, the shifty forward totaled 80 points (37G, 43A).

“I am extremely excited to become a part of history with the Long Island University Men’s Hockey Team,” said Suzuki. “Playing at the Division 1 level has been a goal of mine ever since moving to Canada from Japan 6 years ago, so this is obviously a big moment for me. The 73’s picked me up at the trade deadline in 2019, and did everything in their ability to help me succeed. I cannot thank the organization enough for having faith in me and always providing me with the tools to grow on and off the ice. I am extremely proud of this accomplishment and I am excited to see what is in store for the future.”

Suzuki is the fourth member of the 2019-20 73’s to make a college/university commitment, joining Evan Mitchell (St.Lawrence University-2021-22), Jared Patterson (Hobart College), and Nicholas Domitrovic (Elmira College).
