After going down 1-0 on a Summerside goal from Aaron Brown, the Ottawa Junior Senators received goals from captain Thomas Freel and rookie Braxton Ross to go up 2-1 heading into the third period. Summerside would tie things up 2-2 with less than 10 minutes to play as William Irvine took advantage of a net-front rebound, putting major pressure on the Junior Senators to score to go-ahead goal as they needed a regulation victory to move on. Massimo Gentile would net that go-ahead goal with just over 5 minutes remaining in regulation to put the pressure back on the Capitals as they needed at least a tie to advance further in the tournament. The dagger would come with only 21 seconds on the clock as Brendan McCarthy would score a highlight reel backbreaker to end the Junior Senators season as they would be unable to score before time ran out.

In overtime, and with all hope of moving on in the tournament gone, the Capitals would rub salt in the Junior Senators wounds as Colby MacCarthur would score the overtime winner. William Desmarais made 29-saves in the losing effort for Ottawa, while Felix-Anthony Ethier was the victor, making 33-saves for the Capitals.

It was a tough tournament for the Junior Senators, losing three games by only 1 goal, two of which came in overtime as they finished with a record of 1-1-2-0, scoring 10 goals and allowing 9 in four games.

Overall on the season, Ottawa finished with a very strong record of 56-10-4-2.
